It may be March but it’s already camp planning season. That means it’s time to meet the 2024 Friendship Camp Directors.

Friendship Day Camp – Gabrielle Register

Lauren Landis – our director for the past three years – will be greatly missed. The Friendship Baptist Association thanks Lauren for her service, wisdom, and help over the past several seasons.

Taking over the driver’s seat is Gabrielle Register – a familiar face who has a passion for Day Camp.

Gabrielle has been a key member of the Friendship Camp team for years now. She’s been part of the FBA’s Advancing in Ministry summer discipleship program for four years now and is ready to take on more responsibility.

Gabrielle says, “Volunteering out at Friendship has changed my life for the better. Every day I grow more and more confident in knowing God’s calling for my life in the ministry. It is my prayer to shine the light of Christ on the kids that attend Friendship Camp this summer and to help those volunteering alongside me grow more confident in their walks with the Lord. I am so excited to see God’s love washing over camp this year!”

The theme this year is “Wild Life”.

It will focus on Luke 10:27 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love your neighbors as yourself.”

Day Camp is for ages 5-8 years old.

Momentum Youth Camp – Luke Fendley

Luke Fendley is returning for his fourth year as the Momentum Youth Camp Director.

Luke’s camp ministry experiences stretches back more than a decade though. He’s formerly served as the Velocity Boys’ Camp director. Before that, he faithfully served as a counselor and jr. counselor.

Luke is also the student minister at First Baptist Church, Americus.

Momentum Youth Camp Plans

June 17-21, 2024 | $175

The theme this year is “Act Love Walk” and is based around Micah 6:8.

Momentum Youth Camp is open to those in 6th grade through 12th grade.

Velocity Boys Camp – Colten Cannady

Colten Cannady is also returning for his third year directing Velocity Boys’ Camp.

But just like Gabrielle and Luke, Colten has years of ministry experience at Friendship Camp. He’s one of the foundational members of AIM, which was then known as formerly Advancing in Missions.

He’s also the Camp Manager year-round and the current AIM Director.

Colten says, ” My desire for Boyโ€™s Camp is to show the love of Jesus to these guys and for them to see the beauty of the Gospel and the glory of Christ. I began coming to Friendship Camp when I was in high school. It played a major role in my coming to know Christ and my early growth in serving Him while learning to share the Gospel with others.

“Our hope and prayer through this camp is that these guys will come to know Jesus personally and to trust in how perfectly He saves. He is trustworthy in all respects.”

Velocity Boys Camp Plans

June 24-27, 2024 | Cost: $140

This year’s theme is exploring the topic of Christ the Redeemer – specifically through the roles of Prophet, Priest and King.

Velocity Boys Camp is for students 2nd grade – 6th grade.

This camp will run simultaneously with Blaze Girls Camp. This means the camps will share meals and evening worship but campers will remain separated for all other activities.

Blaze Girls Camp – Lauren Moye

Brandy Shutters decided not to return as the Blaze Girls Camp director in 2024. The FBA thanks her for her willingness to answer the call last year.

Lauren Moye is now stepping up as the 2024 camp director. Your kids might know her better from last summer as “the camera lady” or “canoe lady.”

Lauren says, “Friendship Camp is a big part of my own testimony. Serving out there as a teenager gave me a passion for missions and teaching others. I’m thrilled to give back to the camp this year and I cannot wait to see how God moves in the lives of Blaze campers.”

Blaze Girls Camp Plan

June 24-27, 2024 | Cost $140

Blaze Girls Camp will be themed around “Blessed”. Jeremiah 17:7-8 says that we are blessed when we trust in the Lord. The verse compares that trust to being like a tree planted beside water.

Blaze Girls Camp is open to students 2nd grade – 6th grade.

This camp will run simultaneously with Velocity Boys Camp. This means the camps will share meals and evening worship but campers will remain separated for all other activities.
